La Vie en Rose

Just a girl playing hide and seek with life.Trying to exchange the Beautiful for the Truth. When in doubt think pink.

ugh so its official.. i’m over MY natural hair!!! started the natural journey in fall 2007 i chopped about 2 inched of permed ends off and slowly grew out my natural hair for about a year and a half… my half and half was doing pretty good until i overprocessed my hair with box color and continued to press, flat iron, blow dry my hair… my hair was short for about 7-9 months and finally began growing back once i started school at roosevelt fall 2009. My hair was growing extremely well as the colored, dry ends grew out.. finally by about spring 2010 i had my natural hair color back and hair was hitting about 7 inches. got a sew in for a trip and within 3 months my hair was growin to almost 10 inches and was super full for the following  year while i wore sew ins.. my leave out was a little short but i like bangs so that wasnt an issue … then of course the cycle of un healthy hair began again fall 2011.. i dunno if i just get stressed every 2 and and half years but my hair just ends up freaking out.. i noticed a bit of thinning in my nape area but i’ve had that before no biggie i thought scalp massages and honestly it worked until the winter months rolled in and my hair has been thinning more and more since about october.. now my fro is pretty full! but I soon noticed after taking down my base braids for uparts my hair was not breaking off too much but shedding extremely..With thick hair im used to handfuls of hair falling out usually my scalp would catch up with the shedding because its only natural but im noticing as i get older my hair is growing vertically but not horizonatally..i.e volume. Over christmas break i wore my hair in base braids for a total of two weeks and decided ill let my hair breathe which I have sincethe new year been completely weave free no upart wigs , no installs nothing! but guess what.. my hair is thinning from from the nape/crown area onward.. PPl will never notice cus i have very porous hair it swells with humidity but this is only a facade.. my hair is at least 50% thinner than its ever been. and i havent even been wearing weaves consistently.. i wear a slicked pack moisturized ponytail.. constantly seal my ends every 2-3 days and do scalp massages every week.. Im to the point where i have no idea whats going on but i do know its not good. my edge have thinned out significantly i used to have a slight widows peak and it nearly vanished.. there are visible bald spots on my edges and i dont use heat nearly as much as i used to..smh this is a trip i swear and my natural coils and curls are not consistent so some would argue wear protective styles im convinced that excessive tangling of my thick hair has had led to hair lost because of the tension from combs and brushes. My plan is to constantly use my detangling spray from the dollar store everytime i comb my hair out cus my hair is not catching up with the shedding due to tangling. I just started using roux porosity conditioner and repairing shampoo.. both very good products.. for oil im using vitamin E with a few drops of eucalyptus oil. My hair is soo much more manageable today after using those proucts along with some other things i used. I have my hair braided in four sections air drying and im left with a hard decision.. i dont know what to do risk the tension shedding or use heat a risk heat damage break age? hmm i dont kno yet lol but Im very sure that i will be getting a BKT (brazilian keratin treatment) very  soon my hair is semi healthy whats left of it i cant risk the tension or heat damaged. after that ill be getting professionally styled sew ins until the summer and from there i might get braids (medium sized).Girls i cant hang with the 100% natural gang unless im rocking straight braids my hair just cant be loose the tangling is terrible.. ( a problem ive always had thanks to very porous dry hair) Im also looking into purchasing a steamer and a new growth oil called Euphoria and Bliss. well thats my natural hair plans for 2012. i cant deal with thin hair im used to my oprah thick wraps! lol
Any feedback will be extremely helpful..
remember i have porous hair that makes my natural hair experience xtremely difficult. i have about 3-4 different curl patterns in my hair ranging from 3c-4c.  and i have a wavy( only curl at the very root) coarse texture in the crown area/edges because of heat
